Builth Wells Golf Club’s flagship open event, Open Weekend began with the Cumberland Cup - Team of Four, any combination of men, ladies or mixed teams.
The format is aptly titled a ‘shambles’, all players drive, select the best drive, all players then play out the hole using their own ball (4 drives per player), 2 best scores to count.
A large field, 39 teams, from all over the UK took part; the 2020 Cumberland Cup winners were the local team of Jamie Evans, Aaron Evans, Ruben Edwards and Ceri Jones with an excellent score of 97 points; runners up on 95 points were the Claridge family - father Kevin and sons Shane, Dean and Andrew.

Winners of the ladies team prize were Lady Captain, Hayley Price along with Lisa Hughes, Sherrie Edwards and Lindsay Jones with 81 points.
Mixed team winners from Ullesthorpe Golf Club, Leicestershire were Dave & Christine Bown along with Mark & Julie Carter with an excellent 94 points.
